don't call this group "advocates"

Champlain Housing Trust might be good to include here?
replies
Suggestion
Is this engagement plan more of an internal doc or meant to be a public facing doc? If the latter, then we should also include a brief overview of the RAISE grant project as a whole.
replies
@reminder to discuss Main St. outdoor charette event.

comment by regina: don't use the word "advocate" at all

in reply to Regina Mahony's comment
I'm good with using the Strategic Plan color scheme but not the Strategic Plan logo. I think we need a different logo for this project, but the messaging should reflect the Strategic plan. I don't think this color scheme reflects the City, as it doesn't match any of our current colors.
replies
Will there be a way for people to subscribe to a mailing list to receive additional information?
replies
Suggestion
Other strategies could include a VPOP announcement and contacting rental property managers for wider email distribution to tenants
replies
Will need to do this focus group once school is back in session.
replies
Will Framework produce these materials (i.e., news content and graphics)?
replies
Quick Win Actions
Grammar fix: "...and to have a working session" or "..and to have working sessions"
replies
What about rental management companies? Would their input be valuable at this point or at the later Charette?
replies
Tree Advisory Committee. Does GMT fit in here somewhere?
replies
Suggestion
CCRPC has very recent engagement survey data that could help drive the direction of this focus groups' conversations

Quick Win Actions
The project scope extends beyond just Five Corners; this should say "...and public space in the City of Essex Junction and neighboring communities."
replies
maybe use the map of the scope area. This highlighted areas includes a few extra areas not within the scope of the project
replies
in reply to Chris Yuen's comment
Suggestion
I'd scrap the numbering system entirely and just refer to each focus group by its title to avoid any bias
replies
in reply to Regina Mahony's comment
Yes, this is confirmed with Town Meeting TV. We can do this as a hybrid option, or all of us can be remote.
replies
I suggest using the Strategic Action Plan color scheme
replies
I suggest that we use the color scheme and potentially the logo from the Strategic Action Plan. It could send a helpful message to the community that we are now starting to implement the Strategic Action Plan with this project. Consistency may help.
replies
Need confirmation from Ashley that this is possible...if you don't have it already.
replies
We are talking about delivering on much more than ROW concepts in this project, right? So I'd expand on this description a bit in terms of what will be presented. I assume we are talking about visuals of both the public and private realm, how they come together and then ultimately this project will provide us with zoning/code language to incorporate in the LDC that the private realm will be expected to adhere to. And within the ROW that will go through our Capital Planning process.
replies
we'll probably devote the whole episode to the TOD project
replies
perhaps add details about location once we figured it out
replies
Just FYI - I said utility bill at the last meeting, but it's actually the tax bill.
replies
Perhaps add in in brackets or as a callout what a Charrette is. Some non-planners may not know
replies
I think we said 4 days in the contract?
replies
Overall I think we are missing: GMT, City Engineer (Rick and Jeff at Hamlin Engineering) - Perhaps in a Utility focus group. Firms that do civil engineering for developers (maybe these are in the developer focus group) ocus group? I’m not sure. Also O’Leary Burke b/c I think they do most of the civil engineering for the developers. But I’d invite all the firms that do work in the City. New American/folks that we don't typically hear from or engage with.
replies
Additional staff and consultants who should be involved in this focus group: Public Works Superintendant Ricky Jones City Engineer Hamlin Consulting Inc (Jeff Kershner or Rick Hamlin)
replies
in reply to Chris Yuen's comment
Additional developer: Green Mtn Habitat for Humanity
replies
Additional potential advocates: -Chittenden County Homeless Alliance -Community Outreach -Churches -Dots Place
replies
If Bike Walk Advisory Committee is to be included, title should be changed to "Advocates and Committees", since BWAC isn't an advocacy group
replies
Suggestion
What about including the CTE tech class that builds housing in the City?
replies
Suggestion
Do we really mean that we are asking these folks to guide the project? I suggest instead "There are several active groups that may be interested in providing initial input."
replies
Suggestion
and increased local customer base?

Major developers: - Milot Real Estate (Brett Brabowski) - Gabe Handy Rental Properties (Gabe Handy) - BlackRock Construction (Ben Avery - this is the company that submitted the Chittenden Crossing master plan, but has since divided the project and is selling it off in pieces to other developers). Ben Avery may have good insight on who else should be invited) Other developers: - Doug Cheeseman (owner of 161 Cheeseman LLC) - Riverside by the Village - (Curt Montgomery- just outside of the study area but property is the densest block of the City, providing housing for hundreds of people within walking distance of five corners. Other people to consider - MCEWING PROPERTIES LLC (Chris McEwing - they own a few large parcels near the City Center but they aren't really developers themselves- likely to sell to somebody else to develop at some point) - SISTERS & BROTHERS INVESTMENT GROUP LLP (Joe Handy. Gabe and Joe Handy really don't get along and it might actually be a bad idea to have them in the same room. If one of the two of them were to be left out, I'd leave out Joe, since he has fewer properties in Essex Junction and is much less active here.
replies
I think this should be the Chittenden County Homeless Alliance.

Never mind! I answered my own question as I kept reading. And it doesn't look like I can delete my comment.

Suggestion
They own buildings and property.

Question
Framework will host these, correct? It's a little unclear from how this is worded. And who is expected to schedule these?
replies
Suggestion
I'd suggest re-ordering the groups to avoid suggesting that developers are the most important. Perhaps: 1. Business owners 2. Advocates 3. Developers 4. Students 5. Public Space and Facilities Stakeholders
