BI Parks Goals and Objectives Draft

BI Parks Goals and Objectives Draft

Please provide comments to the document below to shape the Park District's Goals and Objectives!

The pdf below is a process document for collaboration, and a way to show our work, and will not be included as formatted in the final plan.

It includes an effort to:

  1. Align the organizational structure of the goals and objectives with the organizational structure of the LOS to create a clear relationship between the two.
  2. Seperate implementation tasks into clear steps i.e. planning + aquisition, maintenance + operation, and assign them to appropriate parties - this additionally organizes and directs district objectives (see system areas + new objectives)
  3. Organize public, staff, and board feedback, and 2020 objectives into system areas to inform new objectives

As you review the document, please consider the following questions:

  • Based on your experience and perspective in this organization, what are the most important areas to have goals and objectives established? When and where are they critical to the organization or to reference?
  • Do the goals speak enough to the island’s system of park and recreation?  They are meant to set long-range direction for the entire island (like 20-year+ horizons).   As we also ask partners, do they provide enough of a framework to actualize the Park District's Mission?
  • What service levels do you feel are most important to define and to report to the community?   Based on public input – and leadership needs over the past 6 years – what measurements or outcome-tracking are useful and provide accountability?
  • Are your own leadership needs and operation goals represented well in the goals and objectives?

You will find a blue discussion pin at the end of the document to respond to these questions further.
